Bringing Olde Florida Charm to Your Home: A Nod to Tradition with Terracotta, Blues, and Greens

In the heart of St. Johns, Florida, there's a style that resonates with the essence of relaxed living, outdoor adventures, and Southern charm. It's the Olde Florida style, a timeless aesthetic that reflects the rich heritage of the Sunshine State, blended with the warmth of family life and a touch of vintage finds.

How do I create my Olde Florida Style?

  • Colors - At the core of Olde Florida style is a celebration of tradition. It's about honoring the past while embracing the present, weaving together elements that evoke nostalgia and comfort. Terracotta hues reminiscent of sun-soaked earth, blues echoing the tranquil waters of the Gulf, and greens mirroring the lush foliage that blankets the landscape – these colors form the foundation of your home's palette.

  • Accents - To accentuate this timeless style, look no further than vintage pieces that tell stories of bygone eras. Whether it's a weathered wooden chest, a hand-painted ceramic vase, or intricately patterned textiles, each accent adds depth and character to your space. Don’t feel like you have to spend $$$$ on vintage accents! Shop your local thrift store or even Homegoods to find those old-world pieces.

  • Bringing the Outdoors In - In Olde Florida homes, nature is not just a backdrop; it's an integral part of the living experience. Fill your space with an abundance of plants – from towering palms to delicate ferns – to create a sense of tranquility and connection to the outdoors. For me, plants should be real!!! But if you can’t bring yourself to take care of those air-purifying plants, find natural looking stems!
